Driver Line-Up for Formula-1 2010 season
Five more races are left in the ongoing Formula-1 season. We are already starting to hear rumors about new deals that could change the driver’s line-up of the teams for the next season.
Here are some of the reports we have been hearing.
Brawn GP is likely to retain both their drivers for the 2010 season. Jenson Button is practically confirmed as he could very well take this year’s championship. Reports however claim that Ross Brawn has been in talks with Nico Rosberg to replace Rubens Barrichello who has been making too many mistakes. But Rubens has practically dominated Jenson in the last couple of races.
Red Bull Racing too is likely to continue with their current drivers: Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. Vettel is being hailed as a potential future champion. He is unlikely to switch to one of the bigger teams next year. Red Bull however might change their engine supplier from Renault to Mercedes.
Ferrari already has both Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa confirmed for the next season. However, there are strong reports in the media that Fernando Alonso might join them next year in place of Kimi. Massa is likely to be fit to race for the team next year. Raikkonen has already hinted that he would like to switch to World Rally Championship in the coming years. They also have the option to race Giancarlo Fisichella who has been hired for the rest of the current season.
McLaren would definitely have Lewis Hamilton driving for them next year. Heikki Kovalainen is a tougher pick as he has been struggling this season. Hamilton has totally overshadowed him. He just might be replaced by Nico Rosberg if we are to believe the market reports.
Toyota is also likely to continue with Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli. Both of these drivers are said to be looking for better options.
Williams might have a brand new line-up for next year. Nico Rosberg is in high demand because of his excellent performance this year so he might move on to another team. Kazuki Nakajima has been performing poorly and could be replaced. Heikki Kovalainen and Nico Hulkenberg could be driving in Williams next year!
BMW Sauber has already announced their decision to leave the Formula-1. Sauber is now looking for a new partner so that the team could survive and race in the next season. Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld are their existing drivers.
Renault is in a tough spot. Alonso might make the switch to Ferrari for next season. They have already sacked Nelson Piquet. The new driver Romain Grosjean is likely to continue but they need someone with more experience. The team is also under investigations and might be banned!
Force India has already announced that Giancarlo Fisichella has moved on to Ferrari for the rest of the season. Fisichella might become the Ferrari test driver from the next season. Tonio Liuzzi is going to drive for the team in the upcoming races. He along with Adrian Sutil could be the drivers for the team next year as well.
Toro Rosso is currently driving with Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari who replaced Sebastien Bourdais recently. They are likely to keep the same team for the next season.
USF1, Campos and Manor are the three new teams for the next year. Little is known about them except for the engines which would be supplied by Cosworth. They might hire one of the drivers mentioned above. Or they might get someone totally new.
Some of the drivers who might get a chance to drive a Formula-1 car next year: Bruno Senna, Marc Gene, and Pedro de la Rosa.
